Dr. Rowland, CEO of U.S. Aymont semiconductor company，was invited to our school

Invited by the School of Electrical Engineering, Dr. Rowland, CEO of U.S. Aymont semiconductor company ,visited our school in November 23 afternoon , and gave a special academic report entitled "silicon carbide semiconductor device its application in power electronics field, " in the north central laboratory building Solar 317 academic lecture hall for our school teachers and students . The report was hosted by Professor Cao Xianan who is a “provincial Hundred scholar”as well as a “Chutian scholar”. Team members related to Solar Collaborative Innovation Center , professional graduate and some undergraduate students of our school attended the meeting and made academic exchanges with Dr. Rowland.

SiC ,as a third generation semiconductor material ,has excellent electrical properties, which can be used to manufacture a variety of high-temperature-proof, high-frequency and high-power devices. It will be widely used in power electronic devices, optoelectronic devices, solar technology, application prospect, and the market potential is huge and promising. Dr. Rowland made a detailed presentation from many aspects: the nature of SiC, wafer growth technology, power electronic devices, the market prospects . There was a live demonstration of the company's production of high-quality SiC wafers 6 inches, elaboration in Aymont semiconductor company’s breakthrough in SiC crystal round growth technics,and the manufacture equipment , and in-depth explanation on SiC’s potential applications in the field of power electronics and optoelectronics .

The vivid report of Dr. Rowland has a rich content which led all of the teachers and students to a lively academic discussion. Dr. Rowland answered the questions raised by teachers and students in detail. After the meeting, Dr. Rowland and the team of solar cell technology made deep exchanges and discussed the possible cooperation in the future.

Dr. Rowland: Dr Rowland is the CEO of U.S. Aymont technology company . The company is located in New York City. It is an worldly advanced equipment company in silicon carbide crystal growth. He is also the founder and director of the Monolith Semiconductor Corporation (a silicon carbide power electronics company) . Rowland got his Ph.D.in 1992 in the North Carolina State University. During 2001-2006, he worked in Northrop Grumman Naval Research Laboratory and General Electric Company. He founded Aymont company in 2006. Dr. Rowland published more than 100 papers, holding 15 patents and citations more than 2,500 times.
