Noitce on the 2nd HBUT New Energy Design Contest
Teachers and Students:
We are planning to hold the 2nd HBUT New Energy Design Contest.Please be noted that we do not have the plan to hold a special qualification contest for the National Collge Student Engergy Conservation and Emission Reduction Contest but chooose the top fifteen participants of the above mentioned contest as candidates for the National contest. The relevant issues are notifed as follows:
一、Brief Introduction to the 2nd HBUT New Energy Design Contest
1、Theme: Green Energy，Engergy Conservation and Emission Reduction
2、Content and Form of the Contest: centering on the theme of the contest, the participants are required to submit to the organizing committee works embodying Green Energy，Engergy Conservation and Emission Reduction within specified time limit。
3、Sponsors: office of teaching affairs, school of graduates, Hubei Collaborative Innovation Center for High-efficiency Utilization of Solar Energy; Organizers: School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of HBUT. The Office of Teaching Affairs and School of Graduates shall be responsible for coordinating between the participating schools,publicity and other related affairs. School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering shall be responsible for organizing the contests.The Solar Center is responsible for funding and guidance. The organizing committe of the contest shall be composed of certern members from the abovementioned schools and units, and the committe of expers shall have experts with the Solar Center as its members.
4、Participaring candidates and formation of groups: full-time undergraduates and not-on-the-job graduates. Students must paricipate in the form of group with no more than seven members in each, and in which one instructor can be included.
5、Awards setting: undergraduates and graduate students shall be graded on the basis of similar rules. The groups made up of graduates or undergraduates shall be assessed as equals. Groups with one or more graduate members shall be regarded as graduate groups. The first prize, the second prize and the third prize will be set up, they each acounts for 10%,10%, and 20% of the total number of the participating groups. Winning groups will be awarded certificates and money award. The top 15 groups will be eligible candidates for National Contest of College Students for Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction.
二、Eligible Candidates ：
full-time undergraduates and not-on-the-job graduates
三、Participation:
students shall participate in the form of subject team. Team formation: each team shall have 3-5 members,and not more than 7 members. Each student shall join one team only,and each team shall have a group leader; Each team may have one advisor; Multidisciplinary and cross-grade teams are encouraged.
四、Contest procedure and schedule
1、The organization of this contest will be the responsibility of School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The deadline for signing up is May, 13rd, 2016. Applicants shall fill in the contest registraion form (attachment 1) and send the completed soft copy to hbutee@sina.com by 10 p.m.of the abovemenioned date and submit a hard copy to Lab A6-3 of the Practical Training Building. 2、Design and manufacturing of works: April， 20th, 2016--May,22nd, 2016, the participants may, as of their signning up, start research and survey, consult materials and literature, form ideas, and determine solutions,and conduct the design, writing and making of works for the contest.
3、Deadline of submission of works: May, 22nd ,2016, the works will fall into two categories: science and technology, and social practice. Participants are required to fill in the corresponding application and report and send the soft copy to hbutee@sina.com and the hard copy to the abovementioned person.
4、Work review and evaluation: May, 22nd, 2016--May, 25th , 2016, 15 top works will be selected to further compete in the National Collge Student Engergy Conservation and Emission Reduction Contest.
5、Participants will fill in the application form for National Collge Student Engergy Conservation and Emission Reduction Contest from May, 25th , 2016 -- May, 29th, 2016, The reccommended candidates for the national contest shall complete online submission of their works as required,and submit the paper documetns of their work to the abovementioned location.
6、Mailing of works: May, 31st, 2016 The reccommended works shall be bound (in quintuplicate)as required and posted to the organizing committee of the National contest.
7、publishing of the namelist of the winners and conferral of certificates and money award: midmonth of June
五、Requirements on the competing works
1、focus on the theme of Green Energy, Engergy Saving and Emission Reduction, enter on the hot and difficult subjects and field the society is concerned with. The subjects include but not are not limited to: solar photovoltaic, Photothermal utilizing technology; new energy storage system and related technology;
2、Materials and documents for the works：Forms of the participating works include material object, software, design, social practical investigation report;Statement of design or investigation report(see the attchments for the specified format)；Application (see the relevant attchement for the format )；PPT slides, which should hightlight the key points and the innovative points.
六、Funds and awards Funds:
HBUT will provide those who enter the final stages of the National contest with costs for producting the works and the related travel expenses. Awards: The first prize, the second prize and the third prize will be set up, they each acounts for 10%,10%, and 20% of the total number of the participating groups. Winning groups will be awarded certificates and money award.Eligible participation is encouraged.
七、Other maters
The adviser can be appoited by the involved school or hired by the participating group. Only one adviser is allowed in one team. Advisers should be those who have a midium title or above and with a stong professional backgroud, and who have similar experiences and a passion in such responsibility.
